Graduating Amidst a Pandemic

“We have proven that no matter what comes our way, we continue to lead, adapt, and creatively problem solve so that our students and their families get the education and care they deserve.”
It has now been just over a year since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, and what amazes me the most about our school is the immense perseverance and determination of our GPS community. At just 12 years old, we are still a very young school, and I believe our ability to get through this with such strength and grace speaks to the exceptional nature of our staff, students and community. We have proven that no matter what comes our way, we continue to lead, adapt, and creatively problem solve so that our students and their families get the education and care they deserve.
Graduation is a major milestone in any person’s life, and especially our students who are the first in their families to complete high school. Naturally, we imagined graduation at GPS to be colourful and joyous ceremonies to match the meaning of the occasion. Unfortunately - and like everywhere else in the world - Covid limited what was possible. Both our 2020 and upcoming 2021 graduates - our first and second graduating classes to-date - are stepping into a world that is literally shut down. We admire all our young grads who are coping with this reality, especially as India endures another very devastating wave. Our teachers are working hard to continue to support them academically and emotionally.
Although we can’t be together and celebrate the way we’d imagined, we were able to host a small celebratory lunch for our students prior to the lockdown. As soon as we are able, we will host an amazing celebration for both our 2020 and 2021 grads, and can hear from everyone to see where they are now. You won’t want to miss it!
